Why do I get the "Field stock_level: Field is not a valid number" import error?

During a catalog import, you may see:

Field stock_level: Field is not a valid number

Why does this happen?

The stock_level field is configured as a number, but one or more source values aren't valid whole numbers. Check the import preview and source data, and remove any text, units, symbols, or other formatting.

How do I fix it?

Correct the values in the source file and run the import again. If the catalog is a legacy catalog and the field was created with the wrong data type, its schema can't be changed.

Create a replacement catalog with the correct type, import the corrected data, and update any references before deleting the old catalog. For Data hub catalogs, correct the schema or source mapping and reprocess the data instead.

  • import ID or URL

  • sample data

  • a screenshot of the error
