Some platform errors can be intermittent and may not always be reproducible on demand. In these cases, Support may ask you to provide a HAR file containing the browser's recorded network activity. You can follow the How to generate a HAR file article for general HAR-file instructions.
The steps below explain how to keep the browser's Network tab (specifically Chrome's) running in the background so activity is preserved when the issue occurs.
1. Open Developer Tools
Open your browser's Developer Tools using one of the following methods:
- Right-click method: Right-click anywhere on the page and select Inspect or Inspect element.
-
Windows/Linux shortcut:
F12 -
macOS shortcut:
Cmd + Option + I
2. Open the Network tab
Select the Network tab in Developer Tools.
3. Enable Keep log
Enable Keep log. This ensures that network requests and errors remain available after page navigation or a page reload.
4. Undock Developer Tools
Open the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of Developer Tools.
Under Dock side, select Undock into separate window.
5. Minimize the Developer Tools window
Minimize the separate Developer Tools window. It will continue recording network activity in the background.
Reproduce the issue as usual. When the issue occurs, restore Developer Tools and export the network activity as a HAR file using the instructions in the How to generate a HAR file article. If you notice anything unusual in the Network tab, you can mention it to Support.
ℹ️ Compress the HAR file into a ZIP file before sending.
