Problem
A segmentation is visible in the Marketing or Search dashboard, but it doesn't appear in the dimension list when you create a Merchandising audience.
This usually happens when the segmentation was exposed to Segmented Search but the Merchandising integration is disabled or the segmentation was not exposed to Segmented Merchandising.
Quick diagnosis
Confirm that the segmentation is exposed to Segmented Search.
Confirm that the Merchandising integration is enabled for the correct Marketing project.
Expose the segmentation to Segmented Merchandising.
If the integration was enabled after the segmentation was originally exposed, expose the segmentation again to trigger the sync.
In the Search dashboard, open Merchandising audiences and create a new audience. The segmentation should now be available as a dimension.
Resolution
1. Expose the segmentation to Search
In the Marketing dashboard:
Go to Analyses > Segmentations.
Open the action menu for the required segmentation.
Select Expose > Segmented Search.
Confirm the exposure.
The segmentation must be exposed to Search before it can be used for Segmented Merchandising.
See Segmentation setup.
2. Enable the Merchandising integration
In the Marketing project, verify that the Merchandising integration is enabled.
If it was disabled when the segmentation was exposed, enable it and then expose the segmentation again. This allows the segmentation to sync to Search for use in Merchandising Audiences.
3. Expose the segmentation to Merchandising
After the search exposure has completed:
Return to Analyses > Segmentations in the Marketing dashboard.
Open the action menu for the segmentation.
Select Expose > Segmented Merchandising under Search.
Confirm the exposure.
See Creating Segmented merchandising rule.
4. Create the audience in Search
In the Search dashboard:
Go to Merchandising audiences.
Select New Audience.
Open the dimension dropdown.
Select the exposed segmentation and its required value.
Save the audience.
Important distinction
Requirement |
What it affects |
|---|---|
Exposed to Segmented Search |
Makes the segmentation eligible for the merchandising exposure flow. |
Merchandising integration enabled |
Allows the Marketing-to-Search merchandising sync. |
Exposed to Segmented Merchandising |
Makes the segmentation available as a Merchandising Audience dimension. |
Search data training |
Builds the segmented-search algorithm; it does not by itself prevent audience creation. |
The Search algorithm may require a training period after Search exposure. You do not normally need to wait for that training period before creating a Merchandising Audience, provided the integration and exposure steps are complete.
If the segmentation is still unavailable
Check the following:
The segmentation was exposed to both Search and Segmented Merchandising.
The Merchandising integration is enabled in the correct Marketing project.
The segmentation was re-exposed after the integration was enabled.
You are checking the correct Search account and environment.
The segmentation exposure completed without an error.
If the issue continues, contact Bloomreach Support and include:
The Search account and environment.
The Marketing project URL.
The segmentation name.
Whether Search and Merchandising exposure is enabled.
The approximate time when the segmentation was re-exposed.
