In some cases, you may need to export the survey results in CSV format. You can follow this step-by-step guide to complete the setup correctly and avoid common issues.
Create a custom report to extract detailed survey data
Exporting individual survey responses isn’t available directly. However, you can easily build a custom report for survey events in Analyses > Reports. It allows you to include user identifiers and download detailed results for further analysis.
Below are the steps to create such a report:
1) Create a new report
- Go to Analyses > Reports
- Click Create report.
2) Remove the default metric
- Click the bin icon next to the pre-filled metric.
-
You should now see an empty report canvas.
3) Add a customer identifier to the rows
- You can go to the Drill down section.
-
Click into the field and select Customer property > email (or any other identifier you need to use, for example,
customer_id).
4) Add survey questions and answers to the rows
- Click on "Drill down in Rows by".
- Select Event >
survey>question. -
Click again and add Event >
survey>answer.
Your rows should now be drilled down by:
-
email(or other identifier) questionanswer
5) Filter the report by your specific survey
- Click Report filters.
- Choose Event filter.
- Click the + Add an event attribute button.
-
Add
survey_idorsurvey_name. Then select the desired survey.
6) Set the date range
- Below the canvas, open the calendar.
-
Set the date range to Lifetime to include all submissions.
7) Preview and save the report
- Click Preview in the top right to verify your results.
-
If the data looks correct, click Save.
8) Export the results in CSV format
- Click the three dots in the top right of the report.
-
Select Download CSV.
