A weblayer can continue to appear for customers who received it before you stopped the scenario or removed the weblayer node. This article explains when this happens and what to check.
Understand why the weblayer still appears
Stopping the scenario or removing the weblayer node stops Bloomreach from serving the weblayer to new customers. Customers who have already received it can continue to see it as long as its settings keep it eligible.
This behavior typically occurs when you use these settings:
- Display frequency: Always show
- Expiration: Until interaction
With this configuration, once Bloomreach serves the weblayer to a customer, the weblayer remains eligible to appear until the customer interacts with it, such as by closing or clicking it.
Check what happens after you stop the scenario
The outcome depends on whether the customer already received the weblayer:
Customers who haven't received the weblayer won't receive it after you stop the scenario or remove the weblayer node.
Customers who have already received the weblayer may continue to see it until they interact with it, depending on its configuration.
Stopping the scenario or removing the node prevents new delivery, but it does not necessarily remove an already-served weblayer from customers who remain eligible to see it.
Troubleshoot a weblayer that still appears
If a customer continues to see a weblayer after the scenario is stopped:
- Check whether the customer received the weblayer before the scenario was stopped.
- Check the weblayer's Display frequency setting.
- Check the Expiration setting.
- Determine whether the customer has interacted with the weblayer.
- Confirm that the scenario is stopped or that the weblayer node has been removed.
If Display frequency is set to Always show and Expiration is set to Until interaction, an already-served customer can continue to see the weblayer until they interact with it.
Summary
Stopping a scenario or removing a weblayer node prevents the weblayer from being served to new customers. Customers who already received the weblayer may continue to see it when its configuration allows it to remain eligible, such as when Display frequency is set to Always show, and Expiration is set to Until interaction.
